Terry R Hayes

July 21, 1943 — January 26, 2026

Hannibal

In 2009, the music faded; now, in 2026, the music has died.

Terry Roger Hayes, 82, of Hannibal, went to be with Jesus at 6:58 AM, Monday, January 26, 2026 at Monroe City Manor, Monroe City, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30, Friday, January 30, 2026 at the Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal, Missouri; Pastor Jeff Anderson of Calvary Baptist Church will officiate. Terry is a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held at Grand View Funeral Home from 10:30-11:30 before the funeral.

Terry, eldest of eight children, was born July 21, 1943, in Quincy, Illinois to Robert and Nadine (Ingram) Hayes who always said that Terry was her “Balance Wheel.”

Terry is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Sally; three children, Diana Anderson (Chuck, deceased) of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, Terry Keith Hayes of Hannibal, Missouri, Kimberly Cox (Denny) of Hannibal, Missouri; two sisters, Joyce Allen of Hannibal, Missouri, Lisa (Calvin, deceased) of Hannibal, Missouri; one brother, David Hayes of Alabama. Other family members include grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bobby Hayes, Larry Hayes, Dale Hayes; one sister, Darla Graham; former wife Helen Biddle Hayes Williams who passed away in 2014.

Terry graduated from Hannibal High School in 1961 and then advanced to an artistic career at Independent Service Company from which he retired at sixty-two to pursue a career at the golf course.

Terry enjoyed his family, planning fun trips to Colorado, California, Branson, and many others, attending concerts including The Judds, The Gaither’s, Kenny Rogers, Glen Campbell, and The Rolling Stones to name a few, and enjoying sports events like the Cardinals, Blues, and Mizzou.

With his invaluable friends, Terry participated in everything from church softball, golf, racquetball, cards, basketball, pool, even a city softball league team called Revelation. They were an example of Christian values to emulate.

Music was his joy, recording special tapes, burning CDs for friends and family, and playing music at church and with a group called The Country Christians.

Most of all, while living at Hilltop, Terry was saved at thirteen, accepted Jesus as his savior in a little country church, Providence Baptist Church. This changed his life, and he absolutely wanted this for everyone, especially his family and friends. Heaven awaits…

Special thanks to the amazing staff at Monroe City Manor in Monroe City for giving Terry the best possible care, Hospice/Shelby’s Team, and all of the beautiful people who cared for Terry over these years, many are still with us and sadly, some not, who devoted themselves to the compassionate care of their patients.

Memorial contributions may be given to the food pantry at Calvary Baptist Church in care of the Grand View Funeral Home.
