Cole Jackson, who his family lovingly named "PaPa Cole," was the BEST grandpa, great grandpa and great-great grandpa that didn't have to be, but chose to be. He and our precious grandmother, Mozell Jones, married in 1966 and spent the next 50 years together. PaPa Cole has been there for the family ever since and always displayed the sweetest grin when we teased him that marrying our grandmother was the smartest thing that he ever did. In reality, we were the fortunate ones.

He was a simple man that found great pleasure in attending auctions every Saturday to bid on any antique item that caught his eye. He also loved and proudly owned several old vehicles including Model A and Model T Fords. Cutting wood and burning it in his wood burning stove was his favorite pastime in the colder months. In his later years, he learned to dance. One could catch him every week at the Hannibal Armory enjoying the live band and smiling as he did the two-step. At the grand age of 96, he took his first and only flight in his grandson's (Matt Gaines) plane. His wonderful neighbor and friend, Janet Nelson, accompanied him for what was dubbed, "The Flight of a Lifetime.

Family and close friends were always a priority for him and he was the first to lend a helping hand. One of his proudest moments was when he was told that his great-great granddaughter was being named after him. She took his last name as her middle name and the bond that they formed will be forever treasured.
