Cheryl (Cherie) Parsons, of New London, MO, passed away at 8:45 pm September 18, 2026 at BEL Oaks of Country View Nursing Home, Bowling Green, MO with her husband Gordon M (Mike) Parsons and some family by her side.
Cherie was born on November 12, 1943 in Hannibal to William (Bill) K. and Lois Turner Epperson. Survivors include Cherie’s husband of 43 years, Gordon (Mike) Parsons of New London; three half sisters -- Catherine Griffen Pence (Richard) of Frankford, MO; Holly Griffen Bell (Wayne) of Centralia, MO; Berna Raye Epperson Decker of Arkansas; four step sisters -- Jeanna Nelson Jozaitis (Patrick) of Saverton, MO; April Griffen Waugh (Logan) of Queen City, MO; Carrie Griffen of Hannibal, MO; Daisy Skelly (Doug) of St. Peters, MO; two half brothers -- Walter Griffen (Kathy) of Unionville, MO; Scott Griffen (Laura) of Saverton, MO; two step brothers -- Gary Nelson (Chris) of New London, MO; Brian Griffen (Lorna) of Washington, MO; two step children, -- Chad Parsons of New London, MO; Amber Parsons of Center, MO. Cherie has many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, and more cousins than anyone can name from the Epperson family, Griffen family, Tate Family, Turner family, and Nelson family.
Cherie was preceded in death by her mother Lois Nelson; step-fathers, John P. Griffen Sr. and Ray Nelson; father, William K Epperson; brother Cecil (Butch) K. Epperson; half brother, John (Jaybird) Griffen Jr.; step brother, Donald Nelson; half sister, Virgie Oneta Epperson Nichols of St. Louis.
Cherie worked for years at Standard Printing Co. in Hannibal as a Linotype Operator. She had her own nail and hair saloon in New London for awhile. In her later years, Cherie loved making jewelry and giving them away to make others happy. She loved to shop, especially at different Good Will stores. Cherie loved her dogs and cats. In her younger years, Cherie was an avid mushroom hunter and could spot a mushroom a mile away. Most of all, Cherie loved her family and she did not view any family members as half siblings or step siblings, just siblings.
Cherie did not want a funeral. Family and friends will gather on October 3, from 12-3pm at Hydesburg Methodist Church in New London, MO for a potluck meal and to celebrate Cherie’s life which was requested by her husband, Mike.
