William G. Schwanke, Jr.

William G Schwanke, Jr., age 69, of New London, MO passed away at 4:52 pm Sunday, July 18, 2021, at the Harry S. Truman VA Hospital in Columbia, MO. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at the Grand View Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will be in the Grand View Burial Park. 

Visitation celebrating William's life will be held 10:00 am until the time of the service Wednesday at the Grand View Funeral Home. 

William was born on September 17, 1951, in Moberly, Missouri the son of William G., Sr. and Wynona (Sanders) Schwanke. 

Survivors included his wife Phyllis Schwanke, of the home; six daughters, Jolene (Bill) Peters of Kansas City, MO, Beth Truelove of Hannibal, MO, Kendra (Anthony McBride) Williams of Vandalia, MO, Hannah Schwanke of Independence, MO, Shea Boggs, and Sheri (Larry Ryland) Nichols of Kansas City, MO; five sons; Traven Kamroski, Trever Dalton, Tyler Kamroski, Nick Nichols, and  Daniel (Jill) Nichols; three sisters, Margaret (Robert) St. Clair of New London, MO, Nora Meadows of Independence, MO, and Diana (Terry) Goodman of Oak Grove, MO. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; step mother, Carolyn Schwanke; long time companion, Linda Nichols; siblings, Charlene, Richard, Danny and Jimmy and one daughter, Sondra Nichols. 

William was Baptist by faith and honorable served in the United States Army. 

William loved all things motor! Nascar, dirt track, mud track, stock car, demo derby, and anything else that burned gas and rubber. He was a truck driver and an excellent mechanic. He enjoyed to barbecue and grill anything and everything. His most passionate love was his family and his grandkids. 

Pallbearers will be Tyler Kamrowski, Andrew Jennings, Brandon Essig, Donnie Kamrowski, Blake Crider and Trevor Crider.
