Darla Bates

Darla Bates, age 66, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 5:20 am Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Beth Haven Nursing Home.  

A memorial gathering celebrating Darla's life will be held at 5:00 until 7:00 pm Monday, February 5, 2024, at the Grand View Funeral Home. 

Private burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.

Darla was born on June 28, 1957, in Hannibal, MO the daughter of Kenneth and Donnetta (Martin) Stover.

She was united in marriage to Danny Bates on December 22, 1979, in Hannibal MO.  He preceded her in death on July 14, 2016. 

Survivors included two daughters, Amanda (Robert Gilker) Bates of New London, MO, Andrea Bates of Hannibal, MO; two brothers, Roger (BJ) Sparrow of MS, Bill (Dawn) Stover of SC; three sisters, Linda Pickett (Joe) of New London, MO, Rhonda (Andy) Pierce of Atlanta, GA, Missie (Arron) Haynes of Hannibal, MO; four grandchildren, Daltton Bates, Preston Barger, Jaydyn Barger, Slaidder Manuel. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Danny, father Kenneth, brother-in-law Clarence Bates; and her sister-in-law, Jackie Sparrow.

Darla graduated from Hannibal High School in 1976.

Darla worked as a flagger for Bross Construction for over twenty years before retirement. 

Darla was an avid lover of going to yard sales, bowling, watching soap operas, playing card and the game show network. Darla loved her family especially her grandchildren with all of her heart. 

Darla was a Christian by faith and loved to be there for those around her.
