Christopher, better known as Ty, was born on January 23, 1975, in Mattoon, IL, the son of Louis and Phyllis (Miller) Downing.
He was united in marriage to Julie Keith on May 10, 2014, in Troy, IL.
Survivors include his wife, Julie, three Sons, Tanner, Noah, and Carson of Hannibal, MO; Four Daughters, Hope (Forrest) of Leland, NC, Autumn, Charlotte, and Annabelle of Hannibal, MO; Mother, Phyllis Downing of Hannibal, MO; Brother, Trey (Marcia) Downing of Maryville, IL; Sister, Angie (Todd) Thompson of Salem, MO.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Lyle Downing Jr.
Ty graduated from Arcola High School and went on to get his bachelors at the University of Missouri in Aerospace Engineering. Professionally, Ty worked as a technician for Kunes Honda.
Ty was a big teddy bear who put his family first. He was loving and caring, strong and supportive, funny and smart. He enjoyed duck and goose hunting, building computers, gaming, and 3D printing. He loved the Green Bay Packers, Star Wars, and talking about his dog Nova and the lizards, Jorge-George and Falkor. He always wanted to tinker with things, and was a master mechanic on almost anything. Ty would drop everything to help someone in need. Most of all, Ty was a devoted husband and father, and a loving son and brother. He was the backbone of the family and "the piece that made our family whole".
