Wanda Lee Dunkle, age 90, of Columbia, MO passed away at 1:00 am Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Lenoir Woods in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, April 17, 2023 at Grand View Funeral Home. Her son Michael Dunkle will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.
A visitation celebrating Wanda's life will be held at 10:00 am until 11:00 am Monday April 17, 2023 at the Grand View Funeral Home.
Wanda was born on May 5, 1932, in the rural Hannibal community of Hydesburg, Missouri the daughter of Dwight and Elizabeth (Park) Peters.
Survivors include Three Sons, Michael Lee Dunkle (Cathy) of Columbia, MO, Bob Dunkle (Joyce) of Rensselaer, MO, Steve Dunkle (Stacey) of Palmyra, MO; Ten Grandchildren, twenty-two Great Grandchildren, and six Great Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her very special friend and companion, Raymond Sloan.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Lee R Dunkle; her parents Dwight and Elizabeth Peters; a brother, Donald Peters, a sister Verna Katherine; Grandchildren Warren Bremmer, Courtney Griffith, and Easton Pope.
Wanda graduated from Monroe City High School in 1949, and would go on to be a homemaker, mother and grand-mother.
Wanda was a believer in Jesus and a long time church servant in several churches over the years.
Wanda was a hard worker, spending long hours in her garden, canning the produce, and raising three boys in a home that didn't have indoor plumbing. She was truly devoted to her family. In her later years she would help the senior adults in her neighborhood by running errands, taking them places, and helping them with all their needs, even when she had many of her own. She led aerobics at the senior center for fourteen years. Wanda was blessed to spend the years after her beloved Lee died with a wonderful friend, Ray. They loved to RV together, and watched tens of thousands of miles pass by on his Gold Wing motorcycle.
