Walter R. Swigert, 82, of Hannibal, MO, died at 5:29 a.m. on February 19, 2018, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 24, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Robert Korff officiating. Burial will follow at the Pauline Cemetery in Rutledge, MO.
Walter was born on Monday, October 14, 1935, in Huntington, MO, the son of Joseph and Geraldine Engle Swigert. He was first married to Norma Jean Neaterour. He later married Gwendolyn Dewitt and in his later years he married Carolyn Dromey and she preceded him in death.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Carolyn; and a granddaughter, Christy Merritt, also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his sister, Marcella Swigert; two former wives, Norma Jean Dick and Gwendolyn Miller; two daughters, Cathy (Robert) Korff and Christina (Robert) Press; one son, Douglas Swigert; five grandchildren, Julie Crudgington, Jill McCloud, Alaina Press, Abigail Press and Joshua Press; and three great grandchildren.
Walter worked for 35 years as a lineman for GTE Communications. He loved his family. He enjoyed watching the news and could be found at McDonalds most every day enjoying lunch and talking to friends.
