Ruth Elozette Zinner, 85, formerly of Hannibal, MO, died at 11:55 p.m. on June 7, 2019, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Visitation will be June 14, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. John Hembree officiating. Burial will follow at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal, MO.
Ruth was born on February 15, 1934, in Pike County AL, the daughter of Enzlor and Anna Smith Whittington. Ruth married James Zinner on June 15, 1951 at the First Assembly of God Church in Robertsdale, AL James preceded her in death.
Her parents; seven brothers, Edwin, Dovis, Wayne, Rudean, Max Howard, Randolph and Rudean Whittington; and nine sisters, Ophelia, Johnie Mae, Gladys, Grace, Edna, Lois, Merle, Alice and Evon Whittington, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by three sons, James J. Zinner Jr, Charles (Julie) Zinner and Carl (Donna) Zinner; one brother, Jimmy (Mary) Whittington; three grandchildren, Joshua (Kristin) Zinner, Jenifer (Matthew) Cohoon and Carla (Lukas) Lotz; and six great grandchildren.
Ruth was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Hannibal. Ruth was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and sewing. Ruth was especially skilled in suit alterations. Ruth also worked as a childcare worker for the First assembly of God Child Care Center. After retiring Ruth volunteered at the Hannibal Nutrition Center and later worked at the WTJR TV Christian broadcasting station in Quincy, IL. Ruth was known for her loving kindness to all. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart.
