Martha Rae Johnson

Martha Rae Johnson, age 79, of New London, MO passed away at 7:29 am Monday, September 15, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

A Visitation Memorial Service will be held at the Grand View Funeral Home on Thursday September 18, 2025 at 1:00 pm, Rev Jason Young will officiate.

Martha was born on March 23, 1946, in Kansas City, to Clyde and Pearl (Bothwell) Benefield.

She was united in marriage to Bob Johnson in Bates County on February 9th, 1986.

Martha is survived by her children; Beth and Gary Britton, Boots and Jim Carty, Billiejo and Dustin Herrington, Robb Copple; Step children; Bobbie and Matt Cook, Justin Johnson, and Kristin Johnson; 33 Grandchildren, 62 Great grandchildren, and 7 Great Great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, and children Julie Copple, and Theresa King.

Martha enjoyed time at the casino, was an avid gardener and loved to canning from the bountiful harvest and fruit from her hard work. Martha loved music and had an amazing voice and loved to sing and play guitar. She was a fan of the Gaither’s and many of the country gospel greats. Martha had an amazing gift for decorating and was extremely creative. Martha was the person who would take care of everyone. She was an amazing cook and everyone talked about her food. Her rolls were the best around, but it didn’t matter what she had prepared, it would fill the table and bless all who ate around it. She had the biggest heart and most of all she was the greatest Mom and Grandma to her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
