Larry C Carey

The family of Larry C. Carey, of New London, is saddened to announce his passing on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the age of 88 years.

Mr. Carey was born June 4, 1937, in Jacksonville, IL to Henry W. Carey and Ruby F. Claywell.

He was married to Janice L. Billings for 47 years. She preceded him in death.

Larry is survived by his children, Jay Carey of Hannibal, MO, Jeffery Carey (Loretta) of Richardson, TX, two brothers, Tom Carey (Mary Ann) of Springfield, IL, Paul Carey (Jackie) of Springfield, IL, one sister, Sandy Carey Spengler of Springfield, IL, one sister-in-law, Annie Foutes of Benson, North Carolina, 6 grandchildren, Jeremiah, Jayson, Heather, Alexandra, Morgan, and Brock.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ruby Carey, 1 daughter Debbie Harrison, 1 son, Rex Carey, 1 brother Bruce Carey (Evella) of Springfield, IL, four brother-in laws, George, Billings, Joe Billings, Mike Billings, Pat Billings, 5 sister-in-laws, Gwenda Wilson, Lora Barnard, Janet Epperson, Judy Billings, and Susie Billings.

Mr. Carey was a supervisor at MoorMan’s Livestock, Equipment division and retired in 1995. Simultaneously, he spent his time at the Carey pig farm with two of his sons where they operated a 120 sow farrow-to finish enterprise.

Additionally, Mr. Carey served his Country for 10 years. In the United States Navy, his duties included Stateside service as well as time as an Electrician on the USS Sterlet, USS Gudgeon, and USS Menhaden.

Larry was an avid fisherman. Some of his favorite, fishing spots included Mark Twain Lake, Alaska, and Alabama, when he wasn’t casting a line with Dick. Danny, or Donnie he would have one of his grandchildren with him on his boat.

A celebration of life is scheduled for February 21, 2026 from 2:00pm – 6:00pm at the American Legion in Hannibal, MO.
