Joseph Lee Elzea, Sr., age 64, of Hannibal, MO went home to be with the Lord, his son and many others who loved him at 9:09 am Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at his home.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at the Grand View Funeral Home. Pastor Corey Allen will officiate. Burial will be in the Flint Hill Cemetery.
Visitation celebrating Joseph's life will be held 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Monday, March 27, 2023, at the Grand View Funeral Home.
Joseph was born on September 12, 1958, in Hannibal the son of Joseph and Rosa Maxine (Powell) Elzea, Jr.
He was united in marriage to Laura Bell Holman on July 9, 1982, in Hannibal, MO. She survives him.
Other survivors include a son, Faron Elzea of Hannibal; daughters, Delena Jo Trigg of Monroe City and Laura Courtney DeClue of Hannibal; brothers, Michael Elzea (Chris) of Quincy, IL and James Mark Elzea of Hannibal; sisters, Janet Edwards of Hannibal, Deborah Jo Gibbons of Hannibal and Cindy Young (Alex) of Hannibal; grandchildren, Joseph Harley Blue, Preston Ray Dillman (Kenna), Cody Hollen, Rayne Elzea, Kayla Ewing, Aaron DeClue, Jr., McKenzie Winn and Kaylee Chestnutt; two great grandchildren and one on the way. Also surviving are two special nieces, Robyn Pierce and Lisa White and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
In addition to his grandparents, parents and numerous family members, Mr. Elzea was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Lee Elzea, Jr and nephew, James Mark Elzea, Jr.
Joseph worked as a self employed contractor.
Away from work, Joseph enjoyed shooting pool, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and was a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Joseph had a gift of talking and loved to visit with his customers, friends and family. Another talent of his was singing, he loved to sing and listen to old country music with Hank Williams, Jr. being one of his favorites. His biggest love was his family, he cherished family gatherings, BBQ's and just setting around shooting the bull with his family.
Joseph will be sadly missed by many and will never be forgotten
Mr. Elzea attended Consumed International Ministries Church.
Pallbearers will be Michael Elzea, James Mark Elzea, Alex Young, Darin Ruby, Aaron DeCLue, Jr., Preston Dillman, Delena Jo Trigg and Kayla Ewing.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Brian Blight and Mr. Elzea's grandchildren and great grandchildren.
