John James Earnest, 88, of Hannibal, MO, died at 5:11 p.m. on September 16, 2019, at his home in Hannibal, MO.
Visitation will be September 21, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., at Grand View Funeral Home with Rev. Milton Baumgardner officiating. Burial will follow at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal, MO.
John was born on November 24, 1930, in Hannibal, MO, the son of William Raleigh and Lucy Maude White Earnest. John married Bernadine Moyers on April 7, 1950, in Hannibal. She preceded him in death.
His parents; one brother, Bill Earnest; two sisters, Geraldine Jackson and Irene Greenwood; two sons, Mike Earnest and Richard Earnest; and two grandchildren, Brittany Gauch and Louise LaFave, preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sons, Jeff (Gladys) Earnest and Clint (Melissa) Earnest; two daughters, Vicki Hudelson and Nancy Earnest; six grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Clint Earnest, Alex Hudelson, Wade Earnest, Chris Evertsen, Brayden Evertsen and Gus Lewton.
John served in the US Navy for several years after his high school graduation. He worked as a truck driver for several firms and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He built several dune buggies from volkswagen frames and enjoyed riding his motorcycles.
