Hazel Smith, 99, of New London, MO, died at 5:50 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at the Beth Haven Nursing Home, in Hannibal, MO.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the Grand View Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a. m. with Rev. Tim Graham officiating. Hazel will be interred at Grand View Burial Park.
Hazel was born on May 10, 1916, in Flora, IL the daughter of Richard H. and Bernice B. Staley Atteberry. She married Walter J. Snell, who passed away in 1960, she then married Emmett Smith who passed away in 1974.
Her parents, three brothers, Jim Atteberry, Kenneth Atteberry and Bruce Hight; one son-in-law, Bob Graham and a great grandchild, Daniel Phillips also preceded her in death.
She is survived by three sons, Charles (Linda) Snell of Frankford, MO, Harold (Susie) Snell of Bowling Green and Richard Snell of New London, MO; two daughters, Mary Ann Snell of Topeka, KS and Virginia Sue Graham of Pine Island, MN; nine grandchildren, Sherry Phillips, Jeff Snell, Tim Graham, Debbie Jennings, David Graham and Joey Minor; 20 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Hazel had been a member of the 1st Baptist Church of New London. She loved to sew and make quilts. She worked the family farm with Walter and later worked at the Cerf Brothers Bag Company in New London.
