Harold R. Williams, 69, of Hannibal, MO, died at 12:15pm on Friday, May 8, 2020, at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 16, 2020, from 10:00-11am, at the New Embassy Christian Center in Hannibal in Hannibal. Funeral Services will follow at 11am.

Pastor C.M. Cole will officiate and burial will follow at the Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.

Pastor Williams was born on August 12, 1950, in Hannibal, MO, the son of Harold R. Williams and Louise Dixon Williams. He married Margretta Lawson on June 2, 1973, and she survives.

His parents; mother in-law Mattie Lawson; sisters in-law Vera Williams, Maxine Johnson; brothers in-law Jerome Lawson and James Lawson; and niece Whitney Williams preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sons, Harold (Cynthia) Williams of Quincy Il and Michael (Cecelia) Williams of Hannibal, MO; two daughters, Angela Williams and Jackie Blanks; five brothers, Kevin (Donna) Williams, Wentric (Hymita) Williams, Brandon Williams, Barry (Kim) Frazier, and Richard (Glenna) Frazier; two sisters, Margrethe Williams and Mary (Ron) White; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rodney graduated from Hannibal High School in 1969. He attended Voorhees College in South Carolina, where he met his life partner, Margretta Lawson. He graduated from St. Louis Community College at Forest Park and received his Mortician degree in May of 1979. He owned and operated Williams Funeral Home for more than 20 years and was the first and only African-American elected coroner in Marion County. He graduated from Hannibal LaGrange College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and dedicated his life, with his wife as his partner, to caring for those in need. He and his wife were foster parents for over 30 years and cared for more than 50 children. He also mentored and gave hope to rehabilitate numerous people who were forgotten in their struggles by the society. He accepted his call to ministry in 1998, and became the pastor of Gethsemane Gospel Center.
