Geraldine "Geri" May Riney

February 26, 1932 — March 15, 2024

Geraldine"Geri" May Riney, age 92, of Hannibal, MO,  passed away at 2:45 am Friday, March 15, 2024, at Beth Haven Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Grand View Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Grand View Burial Park.

Visitation celebrating Geri's life will be held at 10:00 am until the time of the service Wednesday at the Grand View Funeral Home.

Geraldine was born on February 26, 1932, in Ilasco, MO the daughter of Robert Shelby and Anna Belle (Williams) Stringer.

She was formerly married to Robert Riney, he preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Kerns of Hannibal, MO and Shelbi Otto (Michael) of Quincy, IL; two sons, Bobby Riney (Robert Sronce) of Quincy, IL and Gary Riney (Linda Atkins-Daniels) of Monkey Run, MO; sister, Shirley Powell of Bowling Green, MO; grandchildren, John Stewart Riney (Courtney Hodge), Cody Otto (Anne), Brandon Otto (Janette), Jennifer Scholes (Gary), Jessica Kerns; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and former husband, Mrs. Riney was preceded in death by a twin sister, Eilenne Parks, brother. John Delbert Stringer, grandson, Dayton Otto and son-in-law, Gary Kerns.

Geri graduated from Ilasco High School 1949.  She previously worked as a cashier at the Southside Market and later retired from Watlow.

Geri had a big heart and loved to serve others.  She volunteered many hours at the Hannibal Nutrition Center for over 25 years and also enjoyed volunteering at Douglas Community Center.  In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling.  Playing Dominoes, cards, Bingo, and morning coffee at McDonald's is something Geri looked forward to.  When not working or volunteering, Geri liked reading and putting together puzzles, while enjoying a bowl of popcorn or a strawberry milkshake.

Geri's biggest love was her family and friends, her legacy will be cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Geraldine was a Christian by faith.

Pallbearers will be Michael Otto, Gary Riney, Bobby Riney, Cody Otto, Brandon Otto and Gary Scholes

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hannibal Nutrition Center, in care of Grand View Funeral Home.
