Frances “Janie” Jane Wilson, age 97, of Frankford, MO, passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, in Columbia, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on July 11, 2026, at Grand View Funeral Home. Rev. Richard Epperson will officiate. Burial will be in Grand View Burial Park.

A visitation celebrating Janie's life will be held from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service on July 11, 2026, at Grand View Funeral Home.

Janie was born on March 13, 1929, in Frankford, MO, to James Alfred IV and Edna Lee (Green) McMillen.

She was united in marriage to Melvin Mancil “Mac” Griffin on January 6, 1948, in New London, MO. Melvin preceded her in death on December 27, 1960. She then met Barney O’Dell Wilson, and they were married on February 14, 1963, in Hannibal, MO. He also preceded her in death on October 2, 1997.

Janie is survived by her children: daughters, Linda (Phil) DeCoursey of Centerton, AR; Janice (Dennis) Ebers of Vandalia, MO; Paulette (RJ) Knight of Curryville, MO; Robin (Michael) McGlasson of Columbia, MO; and Jane Ann (Richard) Verdier of Palmyra, MO; and son, Mark (Donna) Griffin of Frankford, MO. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren: Meredith (Brad) Herbert, Danielle (Dustin) Allison, Jill Estes, Craig (Marsha) Estes, Jason (Angie) Knight, Justin (Myra) Knight, Kara Haden, Shana (Chad) Martin, Kami (Jake) Claridge, Matthew McGlasson, Kelsey Verdier, Miranda (Matthew) Livesay, Chad Verdier, Ashley (Steve) Greger, Stephanie (Tommy) Day, Briana Palazzolo, Stormye (Daneal) Wommack, Kayla Griffin, and Cole Griffin; 28 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Edna; husbands, Melvin and Barney; special friend Joe Butler; siblings Lloyd McMillen, Dorothy (McMillen) Adams, Billy Jack McMillen, and Bonnie (McMillen) Schindler; and grandson Jarrad Wilson Verdier.

Janie was a Christian by faith and a longtime member of Frankford First Christian Disciples of Christ Church.

Janie graduated from high school and dedicated her life to her family as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was a wonderful homemaker with a special love for her large family and all her dogs. Every grandchild has special memories of “holidays at Grandma’s house.”

Throughout her life, she was a member of the Rainbow Club, a bowling league in Hannibal, and a square-dancing club.

Janie was an amazing and hard-working wife and mother. She loved fishing in Peno Creek, watching cardinals fly by her window, and listening to country music, especially old-time gospel hits. She enjoyed the simple things in life, such as sitting in the calm of nature with a dog on her lap. She also loved tending to her flower displays, where she could watch birds and wildlife visit. Janie was an exceptional cook and baker. She enjoyed making a variety of dishes for her children and grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jill Estes, Jason Knight, Justin Knight, Cole Griffin, Chad Verdier, and Kelsey Verdier.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Griffin, Phil DeCoursey, Dennis Ebers, RJ Knight, Michael McGlasson, Richard Verdier, and all her grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Frankford First Christian Disciples of Christ Church or the Jarrad Wilson Verdier Scholarship fund at Hannibal National Bank- Monroe City Branch.
