Donald Wayne Chandler, Sr passed away in his home on June 29, 2021.
A memorial service will be at Grand View Funeral home on Saturday August 28, 2021 at 11:00am followed by a graveside service in the Grand View Burial Park.
He was surrounded by his wife Linda Chandler and daughter Susan Chandler Miller. Donald was born in Corning, IA on October 20, 1930, to Fern Lucille and Robert Wayne Chandler, who proceeds him in death. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Grace Bolin Chandler and sister Shirley.
In addition to Susan, he is also survived by his children, Janet Chandler Bowen and Donald Wayne Chandler, Jr., his stepchildren Terry Hanson and Corey Hanson, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Donald was a long-time member of the Masonic fraternity, Boy Scouts, and the Methodist Church. He proudly served his country during the Korean War as a psychiatric nurse and MP stationed in Osaka, Japan. He also served as a member of the volunteer fire department, auxiliary police, and sheriff’s departments.
We as a family remember him as a generous hearted man who taught us to value everyone and everything. We were never to take anything for granted and appreciate what we have.
