Delbert F. Thomas, 87, of Hannibal, MO, died at 2:08 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at the Luther Manor Nursing Center, in Hannibal, MO.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at the Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Steve Todd and Pastor Justin Mosher officiating.
Delbert was born on September 9, 1931, in Hannibal, MO, the son of Joseph and Erma Hunt Thomas. He married Erma Buffington on April 7, 1951, in Hannibal, MO, and she survives.
His parents and a sister, Joyce Waples, preceded him in death.
He is survived by a daughter, Sheri (Steve) Todd; and two grandchildren, Rachel (Junior) Theolus and Rebekah Todd.
Delbert served three years in the US Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Fifth Street Baptist Church. Delbert served as a past commander of the Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post 55.
Delbert worked for the Board of Public Works as the water and waste water superintendent, retiring after 43 years of service.
