Rex Cragen Obituary

Rex E. Cragen, 89, Center, MO, died at 2:45 a.m. on February 28, 2019, at The Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal, MO.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019, at 10 a.m., at Grand View Burial Park, with Pastor Phyllis Hart officiating.

Rex was born on December 30, 1929, in Madisonville, MO, the son of Champ and Beryl Farmsworth Cragen. Rex married Ruth Briggs in February 1949, and she survives.

His parents; father and mother-law, Henry and Martha Briggs; and brother-in-law, Bill Cornelius, preceded him in death.

He is survived by three sons, Briggs (Jan) Cragen, John (Vicki) Cragen, and Gale (Barb) Cragen; one sister, Reva Cornelius; a brother and sister-in-law, W.A. and Dorothy Calhoun; two grandchildren, Sara Cragen and Dustin Cragen; three step grandchildren, Tony Cowden, Chris Cowden and Brandee (Cowden) Janes; and ten great grandchildren.

Rex was a member of the Olivet Christian Church and the Masonic Lodge. He served on the boards of Ralls County Electric Cooperative; N.E. Power Cooperative and Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives; Ralls County State Bank; Soil Conservation Service of Ralls County; Mark Twain School Board; and Olivet Christian Church. Rex enjoyed his time with family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Pallbearers are Dale Cragen, Jim Abright, Dustin Cragen, Dan Strode, Jim Norton, Tim Flowerree and Jason Liter.
