Glenn Cornelius Obituary
Glenn James Cornelius, 93, of Hannibal, MO, died at 11:34 p.m. on April 24, 2018, at University Hospital and Clinics, Columbia, MO.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018, at the Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal. The funeral service will be May 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Salem Baptist Church with Pastors Jim Miller, Stephen Albers (grandson) and Bill Dexheimer officiating.
Glenn was born on August 19, 1924, in Hannibal, MO, the son of Olie and Lillie James Cornelius. He married Mary Withrow, August 18, 1945, and she passed away, April 10, 2005. He married Shirley Griffith on June 28, 2008, and she survives.
His parents; a brother, Bill Cornelius; three sisters, Virginia Bramlett, Aretta Laird and Katherine Cornelius; a daughter, Vivian Shortino; and a grandson, Glenn "Jamie" Cornelius, preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sons; James (Cathy) Cornelius of Center, MO, and Gregory (Katheryn) Cornelius of New London, MO; three daughters, Rita (Ron) Jacobs of Farmington, MO, Theresa (Edward) Albers of Center, MO, Lisa (Bob) Hudelson of Hannibal, MO, of Hannibal, MO; three step-sons, Terry (Pam) Robertson of Hannibal, MO, Robin (Joanna) Robertson of Popular Bluffs, MO, and Faunce (Denise) Robertson of Jacksonville, FL; one step-daughter, Rachel Huss of Hannibal, MO; and one double cousin, Ardella Maddox; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Glenn worked with RCEC for 38 years and retired as a lineman superintendent. Glenn's secondary career was as a musician. He played the guitar and harmonica and sang. He performed with numerous bands, most recently with the Uptown Strings.
Glenn loved God and his family and taught his family how to love the Lord and each other. He was a mason and served as a deacon for the Salem Baptist Church.
