Gerald Pharis Obituary
Gerald Dean Pharis, 67, of Hannibal, MO, died at 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2016, at the Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO. Visitation and funeral services will be held at the First Assembly of God church, in Hannibal, MO.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a. m.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2016, Pastor Brandon Hampton will officiate. Burial will follow at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Gerald was born on January 12, 1949, in Fairview, OK, the son of Gerald N. and Noma Landt Pharis. He married Judy Woodhurst in November of 1970 and she survives.
His mother, Noma Pharis, stepfather, Harold Topinke; and stepmother, Reva Dale Pharis also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his father, Gerald N. Pharis; one brother, Steve (Melissa) Pharis; two sisters, Glenda (Bill) McCurdy and Phyliss Pargeon and many nieces and nephews whom he regarded as his own children. Pallbearers are Bob Long, Dick Reed, Gary Dinwiddie, Jerry Lillard, Jim McNeal, Kyle Harrison, Justin Ayers and Tom Shrum. Gerald was a leader in the Royal Rangers program at church. He was a photographer for weddings and special events. He was an instructor for conceal and carry permits, taught gun safety for the Missouri Department of Conservation and he greatly enjoyed rendezvousing. Gerald served four years in the Air Force with one tour of duty in Vietnam and 12 years in the Army Reserves.
Memorials may be sent to The Wounded Warrior Project, Royal Rangers Program at First Assembly of God Church or the American Cancer Society.
